The aim of deep tissue massage is to reach all the layers of tissue, and myofascial layers to release adhesions, assisting the body with blood flow and correcting muscle fibres alignment to allow healing to take place.
Deep tissue massage is a much slower paced treatment with progressively more pressure. The pressure can be quite intense, but the slower pace assists with preparing both the tissue, and the client, for the deep pressure.
It is recommended by therapists to continue treatment over a long period of time. This increases the chances of long term positive results
Sports Massage is a strong manual and manipulative therapy used on the neuromusculoskeletal system to treat pain and is a deeper form of soft tissue massage, including kneading and manipulation of muscles, joint mobilization and joint manipulation. The main focus is on the cause of the problem.
Most people assume you have to be a sports person to benefit from this type of massage, this is not the case as most people find it helpful with deeper tension or injury, especially where other massage therapies have not helped.
The therapist will discuss before the treatment what needs to be carried out to obtain the best results.
